SHARE: Cultural Programs
With the depth of backgrounds of our residents, we have organized and maintain an active program of cultural activities at Mountain Meadows. These activities include musical performances by local artists and groups several times each month, a resident choral group, two film series, a quarterly literary publication and weekly forums on a variety of contemporary topics.
Music at the Meadows
This remarkable series of programs organized by residents is presented at least twice a month, and often more frequently. Representing a variety of musical styles – classical, folk, jazz, easy listening – these programs are free and open to residents and their guests. Musical artists performing in the area and Southern Oregon University student recitals are all part of Music at the Meadows.
Clubhouse Cabaret
One Friday afternoon each month, residents are invited to enjoy a musical performance by one of the talented individuals or groups who live in the Mountain Meadows community or nearby, in a cabaret atmosphere. These casual afternoons in the Mt. Ashland Room of the Clubhouse are BYOB with snacks provided.
Film Series
The popular weekly classic film series and monthly International films bring the community together to share old favorites and new discoveries. On the evening an international film is being shown, our executive chef creates a companion menu in the Dining Room for added enjoyment.
The Lark quarterly literary magazine
Residents who enjoy creating prose, poetry and photography can share with the community by contributing to the Lark, a publication edited and curated by a community editorial board, available to all residents in printed and online format.
Lectures and Forums
Talks and programs on a wide variety of contemporary topics of interest are regularly presented both by residents and outside invited speakers. In addition events are held as appropriate to introduce political candidates, discuss timely community issues and consider decisions coming before local government. Mountain Meadows is an important constituency within Ashland.
